Think in
triangles. Bring in the light. Reach meaning through forms.

These figures are reflections of ourselves and our surroundings. Hand-cut mirrored tiles are mounted on modular 3D-printed bodies using the centuries-old Ayeneh-Kari technique — each face captures a triangular fragment of reality, shifting with the viewer's point of view.

All different,
all relative.

Each piece is a fragment of architecture, a shard of cosmos, a reflection of the self. Limited and one-of-a-kind pieces, made by hand in Leeuwarden.

Three chapters

Every Mirbreak sculpture moves through the same three stages: drawn as geometry, printed as a body, then tiled by hand until it reflects.
CH · I · 3D DESIGN A sculpture grown module by module in the Pythagoras Engine builder
CHAPTER · 01

Explore in Pythagoras Engine

The builder grows the sculpture from modules: here you can explore the endless possibilities of forming objects within geometrical constraints. Also in the factory you can make practical modules to divide your structure into smaller printable parts (pins), or make a cable pass tunnel, and etc.

CH · II · PRINTING Printed polyhedral modules ready to be joined into the sculpture
CHAPTER · 02

3D Printing

The geometry leaves the screen and becomes a body you can hold.

The assembled geometry is exported and printed part by part, then joined to form the intended structure.

CH · III · MIRROR Hand-cut mirrored tiles applied with the Ayeneh-Kari technique
CHAPTER · 03

Tiled by hand in cut mirror.

Ayeneh-Kari: a centuries-old craft, laid over a printed geometry.

Each face is then tiled with hand-cut mirrored glass using the centuries-old Persian Ayeneh-Kari technique. It is the slowest chapter and the only one done entirely by hand.

Once tiled, the object stops being a surface and starts being a window: every facet catches a triangular fragment of the room and shifts with the viewer's point of view. The sculpture is finished when it reflects: a living system shaped by light, space, and perception.
